Spatiotemporal Influence of Urban Park Landscape Features on Visitor Behavior

The relationship between visitor behavior and the park landscape is complex. Influences of some features on are unconfirmed change with time space, which always confuses architects managers. These spatiotemporal dependent effects were less studied. To understand this influence, an empirical study was conducted in 10 representative parks across West Lake Scenic Area Hangzhou, China. A system for Observing Play Recreation Communities applied to record weekdays weekends, provides a non-contact approach objective comprehensive dataset. Spearman correlation analysis, Wilcoxon rank-sum test, mixed linear model used data analysis. results revealed that differences different behaviors. Park location visiting date affected visitors’ patterns. Landscape influenced various ways depending their context. Landmarks served as gathering points, dual effect vegetation cover varied significantly among visitors. Not all visitors preferred places high cover. Social space more suitable engaging planned behaviors, such exercise recreation. Based these findings, proposed several strategies sustainable design management.
